PROJECT PRINCESS EUROPA [OROPA] THE BRIDE OF LEBANON:

Summer of 2011, a replica of an Ancient Lebanese [Phoenician] Ship named EUROPA, after the Lebanese Princess of Tyr, kidnapped by Zeus the King of Gods will set sail touring 8 Mediterranean courtiers [spring – summer 2011]. On board we will have volunteers from each country: Lebanon (4), Cyprus (2), Turkey (2), Greece (2), Malta (2), Italy (2), Spain (2), France (2), and Tunisia (2).The aforementioned nations will be participating by providing us with 2 volunteers (Lebanon 4) to impersonate Phoenician characters related to their nations.

Upon the arrival to each country, the ministers of culture and/or tourism will be receiving tablets  (check photos) created by the Lebanese famous artist Chahine Raffoul, made out of Lebanese rocks and painted by Lebanese mud and delivered by Lebanese.

The ship will also be holding cultural seminars at the docking points in the visited countries, and will be attended by scholars, politicians plus local and international cultural NGOs. Local and international Media coverage of each nation will be present for the events. We have already been reported by several media agencies local and international, including FRANCE 3 THALASSA program on 15 to 18 minutes segment.

We are currently working very closely with their embassies in Lebanon to ensure the success of our project, with its ultimate goal is to improve the image of Lebanon in the international arena and boost main stream European tourists’ interest in visiting Lebanon, by rebuilding the bridges between the east and west via the aforementioned planned activities.
